BOSIK’s
impact analyses range from 30-100 G nominal impact
testing of railway data recorders to miscellaneous High G
impact testing up to 30,000 G’s. These tests are performed
in the National Research Council of Canada's (NRCC) Flight
Impact Simulator Facility in Ottawa, Ontario.
A 75-foot long pneumatic cannon with a 10" bore is
the centerpiece of BOSIK’s testing process, propelling
items toward their impact points.
With an increase in the large bird population, there is
an increased danger of birds impacting upon aircraft.
Through the use of the pneumatic cannon and other equipment, including
high-speed cameras and motion analyzers, BOSIK’s bird
impact testing effectively simulates a mid-air collision
with reliable test data.
